The People's Liberation Army Navy Marine Corps (PLANMC) is the marine force of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and one of five major branches of the PLA Navy (PLAN). China plans to expand its Marine Corps from the current 20,000 to 100,000 troops in order to better protect the country's marine lifeline and rising overseas interests.
