On a recent quiet morning, a visit to the Tuolumne Grove offers subtle sounds of birds and the babbling waters of North Crane Creek. Along the trail one can pass through the “Dead Giant” tunnel tree, once a 200-foot-tall standing snag with a tunnel cut in 1878 to attract tourists.
