So how do you deal with a tantrum in a restaurant? You don't put other diners through that. I would take my kid outside and then stand there filing your nails while they're having a tantrum. Let them work it out on their own. You’re right there, calmly waiting for the tantrum to be over. And if you have a couple of kids with you, just say pack it up. How do I approach public tantrums? Here’s my take on this … I believe iIt's virtually the same as private tantrums but if they're in a public area where they're bothering people, such as a restaurant, I would take them out to the parking lot and then use the same methods I use for tantrums at home. From my perspective, a tantrum isn't full of big feelings and big emotions, but rather it's just based on anger at not getting their own way. P.S.
