10 Years Ago - Downtown Mobile and Mobile County suffered major damage due to the storm surge and wind from Hurricane Katrina. The Mobile State Docks storm surge value of 11.45 feet was very close to being the highest value ever recorded. A storm surge of 12 feet was estimated at the USS Alabama.
