This is the world’s oldest bridge – a 4,000-year-old piece of ancient engineering in southern Iraq. Built as part of the ancient Sumerian city of Girsu, the bridge was only rediscovered in 1929. It is currently being preserved by a team of Iraqi professionals and British Museum archaeologists.
