Michael Proctor, the former state trooper fired in connection with the Karen Read case, does not want to be grilled about that legal saga if questioned in a separate murder case, records show. Proctor had been scheduled to possibly testify at a pretrial hearing Tuesday in the King matter, but the hearing was rescheduled for Aug. 12, records show.

Proctor was assigned to investigate the death of Read’s Boston police officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe. He was relieved of his duty without pay this past summer after a mistrial was declared in Read’s murder case and his last day with the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office followed soon thereafter.
