Pakistan's military says troops acting on intelligence have raided a militant hideout in a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban in the country's northwest.

Pakistan security forces on Friday killed at least six terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the country's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military's media wing said.

Pakistani officials say militants overnight ambushed security forces who were responding to an earlier attack on aid trucks in the country's troubled northwest, leading to a shootout in which four troops were killed.
