Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has unexpectedly announced his retirement from ODIs on February 6 (Thursday). Stoinis, who made his debut in 2015, played 71 ODI matches and has decided to shift his focus to T20 cricket. Having been initially named in the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, his replacement will now be required.

The 35-year-old all-rounder represented Australia in 71 matches in ODIs after making his debut in 2015 against England. Stoinis was picked in Australia's preliminary squad for the Champions Trophy but the two-time champions will have to make multiple changes due to injuries and pullouts.

Stoinis had been named in Australia's preliminary 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy ODI tournament beginning in Pakistan and the UAE later this month, but will be replaced in the final squad to be named by February 12.
