Cooler, cloudier conditions and periods of light rain are forecast in San Diego County through Friday night as a weakening atmospheric river moves southward into Southern California, according to the National Weather Service.

California's weather remains cool and cloudy, with rainfall focused north of Los Angeles County and lighter showers in the south.

A long-duration atmospheric river is set to bring moderate to heavy rain in northern and central parts of California, but south of Los Angeles will likely get a few light, scattered showers this week.

A report from the San Diego Foundation found that outcomes in key life factors for San Diego County’s diverse Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) population differ widely when that data is clustered.

"Rainfall is expected to decrease to the south with around one-quarter to one-half inch for the Inland Empire and Orange County, and around one-third inch across northern San Diego County to around one-tenth inch across southern San Diego County.

While a stationary atmospheric river dumps rain and snow in northern and central California this week, areas south of Los Angeles, including San Diego, will get significantly less precipitation.
