College Football Playoff, Vanderbilt and Commodores

Vanderbilt’s upperclassmen have changed the entire program as they look for one more win at FirstBank Stadium.
ESPN’s latest playoff predictor has dropped Vanderbilt’s CFP hopes to 10%. That’s behind 20 other teams, six from the SEC alone. One of those SEC teams – Texas (20%) – has three losses, compared to Vandy’s two. Yet even if the Commodores were to win their final two games, it’d only boost their CFP odds to 33%, per the predictor.

“Your man Diego has all the confidence in the world,” Saban told Pat McAfee. “I talked to Ty Simpson. Ty Simpson said after Alabama beat Vanderbilt, shaking hands with Diego, he says, ‘We’ll see you again.’”
With the addition of the Murfreesboro, Tennessee product, Vanderbilt now holds five commitments in the 2026 class.
