The New York Yankees are set to acquire right-handed closer David Bednar from the Pittsburgh Pirates, ESPN and the New York Post reported Thursday.

The San Diego Padres landed catcher Freddy Fermin from the Kansas City Royals on Thursday in exchange for right-handed pitchers Stephen Kolek and Ryan Bergert, ESPN reported.
