ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions are making more roster moves following last week’s rookie minicamp. They are signing rookie edge defender Keith Cooper Jr. and waiving interior offensive lineman Leif Fautanu.

Catch of the day: This belongs to undrafted rookie free agent signee Jackson Meeks (Syracuse), who went up over cornerback Tavian Montgomery deep down the right sideline on a well-thrown 50-50 ball by Snyder that Meeks high-pointed beautifully. Meeks (6-1, 205) caught 78 passes for 1,021 yards and seven touchdowns for the Orange last season.

Friday's rookie minicamp was the first opportunity to see the Detroit Lions draft class and undrafted free agents put on the Honolulu Blue and take part in a practice. I was there for the sun-soaked morning practice and the player press conferences afterward.

Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes said the plan was to cross-train offensive lineman Tate Ratledge at multiple spots, and so far through rookie minicamp that's been the case.

Another UDFA who stood out was Vanderbilt cornerback Tyson Russell, who logged back-to-back pass breakups in the final sessions of 7-on-7s. On one, he showed strong closing speed, aggressively attacking the hands of a receiver on a comeback route.
