The state Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for Sunday due to smoke from wildfires in Canada. If you step outside this weekend, it may look hazier than usual. That’s because fine particulate matter is in the air from the Canadian wildfires, according to a news release from the DEC.

Wildfires are still raging in Canada, where there have been dozens of active fires, and over 33,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes.

Canadian wildfires, along with high temperatures, are partly to blame for hazy skies and foul air. But passing storms may lessen the concern by June 8.
