Summer is a busy time for lighting strikes, which kill about 20 people and injure many others across the United States each year, officials said.
The NWS Raleigh NC issued a weather alert at 2:58 p.m. on Thursday for strong thunderstorms until 4:15 p.m. The alert is for Forsyth, Guilford and Davidson counties.
