A new GM in New York: Jets are hiring Broncos assistant G.M. Darren Mougey as their new general manager, per sources. Mougey has worked with three head coaches who reached the Super Bowl: Sean Payton, Gary Kubiak and John Fox. Mougey was a part of two Super Bowl teams, and the Broncos believe he played a key role in Denver’s resurgence this year.

Darren Mougey replaces Joe Douglas, who was fired as GM late in the 2024 season after failing to make the playoffs over a six-year tenure.

So it should come as no surprise that with the Broncos’ success, other teams have taken notice. Saturday afternoon, the New York Jets agreed in principle to make Darren Mougey their new general manager, a source confirmed to The Post.

The New York Jets' new general manager has one important tie to the new head coach, and both have a history that could be encouraging.

According to NFL Insider Tom Pelissero, "The #Jets agreed to terms with Darren Mougey as their general manager, sources tell The Insiders. A former QB, Mougey spent 13 years in Denver, most recently as assistant GM and working with Sean Payton. Now he's teaming up with onetime Payton assistant Aaron Glenn in New York."
