Monday’s hiring ends a month-long search after New York’s front office fired Tom Thibodeau on June 3 after he led them to three consecutive playoff appearances. The decision to bring in Brown was made to add more experience to their squad because he is a two-time NBA Coach of the Year and four-time a champion as an assistant coach.

NBA veteran coach Mike Brown knows there’s going to be pressure that comes with coaching the Knicks. He also knows there’s a great roster and great restaurants waiting in New York. He’s excited about all of it.

During his first run as a head coach, Brown took the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in 2006-07, only to get swept by Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs. Two seasons later, Brown guided the Cavs to a franchise-record 66 wins and a spot in the Eastern Conference finals, earning him his first Coach of the Year Award.
