A 48-year-old woman has been found alive in the remote alpine wilderness of southeastern Australia, where she went missing earlier this month.

A parks and wildlife officer found the woman just before 5 p.m. local time Sunday on the Nungar Creek trail at Kiandra, which is a stop along the hiking route.

She was concerned that she wasn’t sure what kind of snake it was because it had bitten her. “It didn’t break the skin, but it did leave teeth marks. And it was pretty tender,” Bratschun said.

As Jaimes recalled, she woke up early in the morning around 4:30 a.m. local time, walked to her bathroom, didn't flip on the light switch and was quickly bit by the creature.
