Majesty palms are tropical plants that grow slowly and symmetrically. Over time, they can reach heights of up to 10 feet when kept indoors.

Majesty palms can grow to 30 or 40 feet tall with a crown spread of 10 to 15 feet. The trunk is gray, often bulging at the base, and sharply tapering.

It is pretty windy. We took a palm (labeled 'majesty') that had been intended as a houseplant and planted it in a sunny spot -- our teenager thinks it would be fun to watch it grow, and so do we.

Interestingly, for a plant that can reach 40 feet in height, majesty palm does well as a houseplant. Continuing our run of royalty is queen palm, a cold-hardy, feather-leaved species from Brazil.

Repot the majesty palm in a container one size larger, usually every two to three years. Don't repot more often than necessary, as these palms perform best when their roots are slightly crowded.
