Bangladesh’s former ruling party has accused the interim government of “stoking division” and trampling on “democratic norms” by banning all of its activities.

Sheikh Hasina fled the country after a mass uprising against her government, but the party she led remained a factor in Bangladeshi politics.

Bangladesh’s interim government has banned all activities of the Awami League, the political party of deposed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, under the country’s Anti-Terrorism Act, citing national security concerns.
