Air Canada said it planned to resume flights on Sunday after the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) acted on a directive from Canada's Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu to end the strike resulting in the suspension of more than 700 flights.
Air Canada announced it will suspend operations immediately after more than 10,000 of its flight attendants went on strike in the middle of peak travel season. Staff staged a walkout at around 1 p.m.
The Canadian carrier said it expects to call off 500 flights by the end of Friday. Air Canada said it was suspending its schedule and trying to get passengers booked with other airlines to limit disruptions.
